Asmodeus created the Dark Warriros. He chose the most vicious band of demons he had. Phantasm; Demon Soul; Demonic Strength; Hell’s Angel; Hell Stryke; Mind’s Eye and Spirit. They terrorized the earth for about 1000 years.
After watching these attacks go unchallenged by even God, one of the Angel's from Heaven came to earth to try to stop the Dark Warriors. She was unsuccessful and was captured. Asmodeus tortured and mutated her into Heaven’s Light and sent her to help the rest of the Dark Warriors.
They continued for another 500 years, then they attacked the wrong village. After the attack was over, the remaining villagers got together and put a curse on the demons. The curse gave the demons souls and consciences.
The Dark Warriors now felt sorrow for the evil things they had done and they took pity on humans for their inability to fight off evil forces like they used to be.
Now they roam the earth in an effort to stop evil and set right all the wrong they had done.
Phantasm felt the most sorrow, for he was their leader, that he split into his two entities Phantom and Phantress, and even though it causes him great pain to remain seperated, he remains that way to punish himself for what he has done.
Spirit later had twins, a son, Demon, and a daughter, Timber. They too help the Dark Warriors in their fight against evil, even though they don’t feel the grief the others feel.
